Almost two years ago, chronic hives and angioedema turned me into a miserable recluse. The burning, stinging pain from various triggers tormented me day and night. I’m not out of the woods yet, but I can claim some small victories!
I’ve been surviving on three to five hours of sleep at night on average. I got 7 hours! Glorious! ChatGPT and I brainstormed solutions for my bed and laundry. So far, this is the first time in those two years that I’ve gotten to sleep with a comfy pillow and sheets! Woohoo! Before, I had a vinyl mattress cover that I stuck to every night. I began reacting to VOCs in the vinyl. I used a vinyl-dipped foam pool pillow, although it was a bit hard, and it supported my neck. I now have latex foam pillows (pray I don’t develop a latex allergy!).
My laundry triggered this whole event when my washer wouldn’t get my clothes clean enough, leaving them baking with dust mites, detergent, bacteria, and fabric softener. There had been a hole in the water inlet, causing water to drip into the washer housing. It ran out into our garage, hidden from view. The tape you see is holding until my Boaz can install the new hose. A manufacturer’s defect!
It will take a while to clean the mess out of our laundry. I now have laundry solutions to clean my clothes, thanks to Chat.
For the first time in months, I can use a towel! No more drip-drying, paper towels, or blow-drying. Such a simple joy we take for granted every day.
Current hurdles: pleather/leather chairs and sofas with seams, car seats and seat belts, and travel. Who knows? My solutions could vanish in a heartbeat. I praise the Lord for the small victories He has given me. This health condition is likely permanent, but God has given me medical care that helps reduce my misery, too. Thank you, Jesus!
